Invite 'em Over

Do you like having people over or throwing parties? Or maybe you just want to meet your neighbors in the safety and security of your home. Why not throw a small introductory Halloween party and invite a few of the neighbors over. Invite some of your immediate neighbors over as a safe and fun alternative for them to taking their kids out. Use the relationships built to invite them to church.

Instructions

1. Put together a small party with lots of candy and goodies for the kids and food for the adults.
2. Send out or hand deliver invitations to the neighbors you want to invite.
3. Organize some games and goody bags for the kids.
4. Use the time to meet your neighbors and talk with them.

The Bottom Line
Everyone likes a party. This is a great way to provide a safe and fun alternative to going out not only for you, but for your neighbors. You get to meet them in a controlled environment and have plenty of time to begin a new relationship.

Other Tips

-Put the party together with a few people from your ABF or Small Group. Parties are always easier with help, and are more fun when there are more people there. Also, this is a great way for your neighbors to meet people from your church.
-Hand delivering invitations can be great. You get to add a personal invitation and neighbors you haven’t met yet will be a lot more likely to ignore an invitation in the mail from someone they have never met, than a new friend who invited them over.
-A movie with a message can be a great activity for the kids (VeggieTales- "Where's God When I'm Scared" would be very appropriate.)
-Be intentional. Look for opportunities in the conversations to invite your neighbors to come to church with you.
