Meet for Treats

For those of you who are more scared of the neighbors' decorations than you are of talking to them for the first time, Halloween provides a great opportunity to get out and meet your neighbors. Meet-for-treats is similar to the Tract-for-Treat activity only you open your mouth and talk more.

Instructions

1.Let your kids get all dressed up. We definitely recommend avoiding the scary costumes. Help your kids choose a costume that can be fun for them, but still be God honoring.
2. Put your tracts and invite cards together in pairs.
3. Go door-to-door on your street (to those houses with the light on of course).
4. As you go door-to-door introduce yourself to neighbors you don’t know. Begin to learn who they are. Give them a tract or invite card and invite them to come to church with you.

The Bottom Line

As with tract-for treating, your kids get to dress up and load up on candy (good luck at bed-time). This time however, you and your children get to meet the neighbors and have them meet you. Let them put a name and a face with the tract you are giving them. Best-case scenario: you have begun a relationship that might lead your neighbor to church and to Christ. Worst-case scenario: your neighbors figure out who to avoid.

Other Tips

-Use all of the good safety practices listed under the Tract-for-Treat activity.
-Invite your neighbors personally to church with you. Studies continue to show that over half of all people would go to church if someone simply asked them.
